Spetses

 Frequently asked questions!

Please find the answers of the most frequently asked questions that will make your stay on the island of Spetses and the Xenon Estate luxurious villas resort an unforgettable experience!

Question: How do we get to Spetses?

There are two choices: 1. From Piraeus by hydrofoil or catamaran. Depending on which stops the boat makes, the journey is 2 to 3 hours and the fare is 35 euros one way. 2. By Road to Costa: journey time without stops is around 2.5 to 3 hours, and from there by water taxi, ferry boat or kaiki to the port of Spetses. The Ferry Boat leaves four times a day, with the last at 17:00 sharp, and the ticket is 1.5 euros. It takes about 15 minutes to reach the main port of Dapia. The kaikis do not have a specific timetable, leaving only when they are full. The trip takes around 15 minutes and the ticket is 2 euros per person. Water taxis are available 24 hours, and the charge is by the route (and not per person) at around 20 euros to the Dapia. The trip is about 5 minutes. Of course, if you choose transfer by road, bearing in mind that no private cars are permitted on Spetses , you should allow for (aside from petrol) the extra cost of parking. At Costa, there is organised parking which costs 5 euros per day. You can of course leave it on the road, but then you will have the worry of the parking fine or accidental damage... There is also the choice of a taxi, booked to meet you at the airport, which will bring you straight to Costa. Usually a Mercedes, the taxi costs up to 240 euros and requires booking in advance. This works out particularly well, economically, for three or more travellers, but the taxi can only legally take four passengers. The journey from Athens to Costa is about 190 km and our view is that if there are more than two people in your party, then a car may be worthwhile.

Question: How do we get to Xenon Estate once we arrive on Spetses?

If you inform us of your expected arrival time as soon as you know it, we will be able to book you a taxi. As with all travel arrangements, if it is last minute, it is more difficult to guarantee.

Question: How does one get around on Spetses?

The distances in the town of Spetses are relatively short. One can easily get around in town, on foot. Most restaurants and cafes are easily reached, as are the nearby beaches and lively night-life. From almost any point in the town of Spetses most places are within 20 minutes walk. And the walk is a great experience because there are no private cars allowed in the town to spoil the historical beauty which culminates in the traditional Old Harbour area. If you are not fond of walking, there are the following options: a) Taxi - there are 7 in operating on Spetses, which can be booked in advance, b) Horse-drawn buggies, with two separate ranks in the town centre, serving the eastern and western parts of the town respectively, c) Bus: again, with two separate "stations" serving the western (departing from in front of the Poseidonion Hotel, going as far as Vrellos Beach) and eastern part of town (departing from the Town Beach/Ayios Mammas, and going around the island to the beaches of Anargyri and Ayia Paraskevi) or, finally, d) Rental bikes and scooters.

Question: Where exactly is the Xenon Estate?

Located at the highest point of the town of Spetses, in the northwest area, Xenon Estate has the unbeatable advantages of absolute peace and tranquillity, and the breathtaking panoramic views.

Question: How does one get to the town centre and the Dapia (main harbour)?

There are three choices: a) by bicycle or 50 cc motorbike: if you inform reception we can arrange the booking for you (for a motorbike you will, of course, need the appropriate license), b) on foot, especially during the cooler evening hours the 10 -15 minute walk into town is amazing and can be very enjoyable, but the return (because of the uphill nature of the route after a point), can become tiring, especially when the sun is at its hottest, so we would not recommend it for families with young children or the elderly and, c) by taxi which can be called or booked at any time of day you require.

Question: How long is the walk to nearest beach?

It's about 10-15 minutes. The closest beaches to the Xenon Estate are Ayios Mammas and Ayios Nikolaos. The beaches further from the town are best reached by taxi, motorbike or bicycle. There are also the bus services mentioned above, and for the beaches of Ayii Anargyri, Ayia Paraskevi, Xylokeriza and Zogeiria there are kaikis which leave at set times from the Dapia Harbour

Question: Does the price include breakfast?

Yes, but in a different way from the expected.
